The Department of Computer Science initiated its undergraduate program in Computer Applications (B.C.A.) in 1998, with Dr. Rajeshwari Thiagarajan leading the department. Subsequently, in 2001, the department introduced the postgraduate program, M. Sc. Information Technology.
The vision of the Department is "To provide a wholesome educational environment, a platform for the students to reinvent themselves and launch into the technological and scientific arena together with human values"
Simultaneously, it ensures that the pursuit of academic excellence and knowledge remains undisturbed by the demands of employability.
Project work is an integral component of the curriculum, featured at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students engage in in-house projects as part of their coursework, along with mini projects in Programming and Designing courses, providing them with a competitive edge in the field.
To enrich the knowledge acquired from the curriculum, the department organizes seminars, workshops, exhibitions, video conferences, and Scholar-in-residence programs for students.
Additionally, the department offers a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS) for students seeking to acquire essential technical skills for the job sector.
